Main page > Open-Air Theatre – “Lotus Flower”

“Lotus Flower” (premiered in 2024) is a story inspired by the culture of the Far East about the search for happiness. This movement-based performance, featuring live music, includes references to Japanese culture, particularly the philosophy of Ikigai and Eastern movement traditions (yoga, qigong). The musical layer features instruments such as handpan, cajón, bass guitar and electronics, as well as original songs.
In our tradition, during Midsummer Night we search for the Fern Flower – whoever finds it will find happiness. Although the lotus flower does exist in reality, happiness in the Eastern sense may mean something different.
What does it mean to be happy? What is happiness? Does it depend on where we are born and raised? Each stage of the story presented in the performance is also a parable – sometimes a story, sometimes a song. We will ask questions to the audience, inviting them to take part in the shared search, leaving them with reflection at the end.
