Fifth edition of the celebration of Polish surrealism
Does Polish imagination have a unique code? The fifth, jubilee edition of the exhibition at the Museum of Fantastic Art attempts to answer this question. This time, we go further, creating the most comprehensive panorama of Polish surrealism of recent decades, juxtaposing visions of historical giants with the precision of contemporary masters.
Three Pillars, Seven Visions
At the heart of the exhibition is the meeting of three giants who defined the Polish aesthetic of darkness and oneirism: Zdzisław Beksiński, Jerzy Duda-Gracz, and Wiesław Wałkuski. This combination allows us to trace how Polish surrealism evolved – from metaphysical unease, through grotesque, to masterful precision of form.
Contemporary Continuation
This code remains alive, carried forward by artists who today set the standard for the genre:
Dariusz Zawadzki and Jacek Szynkarczuk – drawing viewers into dense, dreamlike narratives.
Zbigniew Bielak – combining architectural detail with dark symbolism.
Mariusz Krawczyk – masterfully manipulating light in imagined spaces.
Unique Premieres
We continue the tradition of revealing the unknown. Most of the works on display come from private collections and have never been shown to the public before. This may be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience them up close.
Step into the code. See what has been hidden.
