The exhibition BEST_IARIUS by Bartosz Stępiński, one of the most fascinating contemporary artists in the field of fantastic art, will be on display at the Museum of Fantastic Art from January 10 to March 15, 2026.
The show presents 30 of the artist’s latest works, created over the past three years. BEST_IARIUS is a unique take on the bestiary motif, focusing on human condition and the psychological depth of the depicted figures.
BEST_IARIUS is not only a demonstration of the artist’s technical mastery but also a study of tension. The canvases do not feature literal deformations or fantastical creatures in the traditional sense. Instead, the artist searches for the “beast” in everyday life and the authenticity of human experience.
Although the exhibition title suggests a meeting with mythical monsters, Stępiński shifts the focus toward psychology and corporeality.
As the artist himself notes:
“While the title suggests a catalog of monsters, the paintings are dominated by human figures—because the human being remains the most enduring and ambiguous form of the beast.”
