On November 25, 2025, at 6:00 PM, the Kotłownia Stage at Centrum Praskie Koneser will host a special literary event – a meeting with Marianna Kijanowska, one of the most outstanding contemporary Ukrainian poets, accompanied by the premiere of her latest poetry collection “Lightning Meets Water and Wind.”

Marianna Kijanowska, author of works including “Babi Yar. On Voices”, which earned her the Zbigniew Herbert Literary Award in 2022, explores memory and identity in her writing, giving voice to the victims of history. On November 25, 2025, at 6:00 PM, Kijanowska will take part in a conversation with Aneta Kamińska, poet and translator of Ukrainian literature, and Adam Pomorski, translator, essayist, critic, and literary scholar, who will host the evening. Admission is free.

The event will offer an opportunity to discuss poetry and its role in a world full of tension, as well as the literary bridges connecting Poland and Ukraine. The evening will feature the latest volume “Lightning Meets Water and Wind” (Wydawnictwo a5) – a poetic account of human experiences in the face of war, memory, and hope. The book, translated into Polish by Aneta Kamińska and Adam Pomorski, testifies to Kijanowska’s extraordinary sensitivity and her ability to address pain with simplicity and empathy.

Culture at the Heart of Praga

The evening with Marianna Kijanowska is part of a collaboration between the Zbigniew Herbert Foundation and Centrum Praskie Koneser, aimed at introducing Polish audiences to the work of prominent contemporary authors. Centrum Praskie Koneser continues to establish itself as a venue where high culture is accessible to everyone – from outdoor exhibitions and concerts to meetings with leading figures in art and literature.
